Bio:

Max Esterson

Age: 16 (2002)

Max started racing online on the iRacing simulation platform over 5 years ago and has since become a top 5 iRacer out of all 25,000 drivers in the U.S. and is in the top 60 out of 60,000 iRacers worldwide. In order to compete in high level competitions with big prize pools, it takes practice and training, and one must also learn about car setup and be able to successfully analyze telemetry to work around any roadblocks. Max’s current team, Vendaval Simracing, collaborated with FA Racing G2 Logitech G, Fernando Alonso’s simracing team, to test and develop set-ups and compare driver feedback for 2018 season. When Max first started karting in the summer of 2018 at OVRP without any prior racing experience, apart from the occasional indoor arrive-and-drive kart race, it was clear that skills from iRacing helped him quickly adapt to driving a kart, as many techniques and general racing concepts carried over from the sim world to the real thing.

2017:

  • Joined Vendaval Simracing, and qualified to become a driver in iRacing’s GT World Championship Series, fighting for $10,000 alongside 50 of the best iRacing endurance teams competing in an 8 race, 7-month long championship.

2018:

  • Raced in iRacing’s GT World Championship Series with 1 top 10 finish, along with several strong qualifying performances, including a 3rd place qualifying effort in the opening race. Finished 24th in the standings at the end of the season.

  • Qualified in the top 30 of the Porsche Simracing Summit Hotlap Competition to win a trip to Porsche’s factory and test track in Leipzig, Germany for a chance to win €30,000

  • Attended McAleer 3 Day Kart School at OVRP (August)

  • Raced in 3 OVRP club races and the NY State Championship Race (September-November)

  • Attended Bertil Roos 3-Day Racing School at PBIR (December)

  • Tutor – coached a number of drivers with different skill levels from around the world on iRacing in order to improve their performances and to help them overcome their learning plateaus

2019 plans:

  • Continue simracing during free time

  • Continue to coach iRacing drivers

  • Race Senior TaG class at OVRP

  • Attend a 2-Day Racing School to become eligible for SCCA license

Alfred Di Scipio Jr

Calvin Kosak

Age: 17
Bio: Cal started racing competitively in indoor karts when he was 9 years old. After placing third in indoor kart series, he moved up to outdoor karts at age 10. He raced among world-renowned racers in Mini Max & Juniors at different tracks all across the Northeast, where he competed at club and regional events. He gained multiple podium finishes including third in the OVRP Final Club Series, and second place in the New York State Championship. Calvin advanced to Senior karts in 2020, finishing fourth in the OVRP club series and continues to push himself to improve every season with the guidance of Stevan McAleer and his team.
